You see it and feel it: Corruption in the Church. The staggering loss of faith in the Real Presence. Doctrinal confusion, cultural degeneracy and the list goes on. The world is getting louder, and the "noise" is designed to leave you anxious, angry, and even questioning your Faith.
As Bishop Thomas Olmsted said in his apostolic exhortation Into the Breach:
"One of the key reasons that the Church is faltering... is that Christian men have not stepped into the breach. ...The New Evangelization is not a ‘nice-to-have’ option. It is a mission of spiritual warfare... do not hesitate to engage in the battle that is raging around you."
But how do we fight a battle that is preternatural?
Exorcists like Fr. Chad Ripperger and Fr Dan Rehill explain that Gregorian Chant is a powerful spiritual weapon. Unlike modern music that stirs the emotions, Chant bypasses the world's distractions and appeals directly to the Will and has an inherent ordering effect on the human soul.
Why the Enemy fears Chant
These exorcists note that demons cannot stand Gregorian Chant because of its tendency to create peace, its objective beauty which reflects the beauty of God, and because most of the texts are from Sacred Scripture, the Word of God. St Athanasius once noted that "By [chanting] a man will overthrow the devil and put the demons to flight."
But sometimes the chants don't have any affect. WHY?
Fr Ripperger's assistant, Dr. Dan Schneider, explains that for Chant to be efficacious, it also requires purity of heart. Most recordings are performed merely as "beautiful music" and not as prayer, or the singers are puffed up with pride, and often they are sung by nonbelievers.
This is why we have formed CAROLINGIA.
Carolingia, is the professional ensemble of the Gregorian Chant Academy. Under the direction of former Benedictine postulant Christopher Jasper, this schola of devout Catholics is doing more than "making an album"—we are forging a spiritual sword for your home.
Real Prayer: We rehearse and record every session with Holy Water, prayer and the Litany of Humility.
The Gold Standard: Rooted in rigorous academic study and prayerful, artistic performance, we provide an authentic reference for the Church.
The Arsenal: This album includes the the Prayer to St. Michael, Te Deum, the Dies Irae, and many other chants specifically noted for their efficacy against the demonic.
Strike Back Against the Chaos
When the world feels like it's failing, your home must become a fortress and you, a solider. You need beauty, prayer and the intercession of Divine assistance. As my friend, actor and director David Henrie reflects in the EWTN+ series Seeking Beauty:
"I’m reminded of a moment in the Confessions of St Augustine when he walked past a church in Milan and heard singing from within. That simple sound pierced the chaos of his life and gave him a new rhythm. One that began to reorient his heart. I think that’s something we all need today. In the middle of our noisy, fast-paced lives, sacred music and beauty offer us a different rhythm. One that slows us down and draws us in and speaks to something deeper within us."
To give these chants, your family and your home the quality they deserve, we plan on using professional studio production, and real acoustics from real churches in Europe, so that when you press play, the atmosphere of your home changes into one of peace and prayer. Demons flee. Your mind and soul will feel at ease and be drawn ever closer to Christ.

CAROLINGIA is the professional ensemble of the Gregorian Chant Academy.
CAROLINGIA is directed by GCA founder Christopher Jasper and is comprised of a variety of professional, independently contracted singers, all of which are devout practicing Catholics. The mission of CAROLINGIA is three-fold:
1. To Provide the "Aural Model"
While the Academy is the "learning center", Carolingia provides the Standard. We demonstrate prayerful execution of Gregorian Chant and other sacred music rooted in rigorous academic study and vocal performance. As such, it serves as the definitive reference for cantors, priests, and scholars worldwide. We don't just teach the tradition; we embody it. We don't invent certain performance practices simply because they "sound cool" like other ensembles do; everything we do is rooted in and informed by authentic musical manuscripts, treatises, traditional performance practices, and the song as sung prayer. We do not perform for applause; we sing for the Sanctuary.
2. To Forge "Acoustic Artillery"
We believe that sacred music is a spiritual weapon. Carolingia is dedicated to singing for real liturgies and creating high-quality recordings—like Defend Us In Battle—that are intended for more than just listening. They are designed to reclaim the domestic church, drive out demons, reorient the human soul toward the Divine and serve as an education tool and aural model for those seeking to learn how to sing these chants.
3. To Lead the Cultural Renaissance
The name CAROLINGIA refers to the era of the Carolingian dynasty - led by Charlemagne - when the Roman and Gallican chants first merged and created what we now call "Gregorian" chant, and the birth of musical notation. It was from Gregorian Chants that polyphony was first developed, along with the advancement of all other forms of art and architecture, and as such, the Carolingian dynasty can rightfully be considered the first major Renaissance in the West, predating that of the 14th century.
Our mission is to do the same today: to bridge the gap between historical scholarship and liturgical performance today. The Second Vatican Council echoed the words of Popes Pius X, XI and XII when it said "Sacred Music is a treasure of inestimable value, greater than that of any other art" and again "Gregorian Chant shall have principal place [principem locum] in the liturgy."
We aim to keep that. We are the "Traditiones Custodes" (Guardians of Tradition) of sacred music. We are CAROLINGIA.
Our target goal is September 29, feast of St Michael. If production requires a slight delay, our plan B release date is November 1, All Saints Day. Sign up to receive updates and be the first to know.
The album will feature 18 professionally recorded Gregorian chants.
Our ensemble consists of 6 experienced vocalists, each with a background in sacred music and Gregorian Chant. Our full list of singers include Christopher Jasper (GCA director), brothers Patrick Walsh, Robert Walsh and Joseph Walsh, Joe Daly (former bass of Floriani) and high tenor Joshua Carswell.
If we fall short of our fundraising goal, we will still move ahead with production according to Plan B.
Plan B: We will move the production to my personal home studio. I will take on the mixing and mastering myself. I will not be able to afford to fly the out-of-town singers in, so they will record their parts separately and then be mixed together with our voices in the studio post production.
While the prayer will be just as fervent, we will also have to produce CDs in smaller "reconnaissance" batches of 300 at a time, and forgo the marketing campaign.
The bottom line: Every partner who claims a rank is guaranteed to receive their albums and all other benefits attached to their rank. Pre-orders will always be fulfilled first.
Your partnership doesn't just determine if the sword is made—it determines the strength of the steel and the reach of the blow.
